8, 2008 – New York, NY. Starfish Junction Productions,
producer of Coffee and Tea Festival NYC, is getting
ready to pump caffeine into the veins of New York City
residents and festival attendees at the 3rd Annual Coffee
& Tea Festival: NYC. This international extravaganza
is being held on Saturday and Sunday, April 12th and
13th, 2008 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18
Street, New York, NY. The event is open to the public
and the trade.
“The
two day festival will be a celebration of everything
related to coffee and tea,” said Lynda Calimano,
Event Producer. “It is quite a unique show in
that it is open to the public and the trade”,
she added. The international lineup of exhibitors is
sure to delight all that attend.
Included
among the featured exhibitors for the 2008 show: Tafu
NY, ITO EN, Café La Paz, serendipiTea, micro-roaster
Real Coffee Corp., Tay Tea, Nestle, Mighty Leaf, Sympatea,
Ceylon Treasures, Biscottea, Soltazza, Tavalon, and
Jalima Coffee. The show will also feature some extraordinary
artists with extraordinary products including Cardew
Design, Harshita Designs, and Theresa Kasun. Chocolate
lovers will be delighted when they sample from Best
Friends Cocoa and Cocoa Love.
The
event offers two days of programming including classes/lectures/demos
from well-known industry pros and pioneers. Programming
highlights include Tea Blending by Nini Ordoubadi of
Tay Tea, Coffee Cupping & Tasting hosted by Marcela
Zuchovicki of Jalima Coffee, Afternoon Tea for Fun and
Profit led by Ellen Easton, Cooking with Coffee presented
by food historian and cookbook author Francine Segan,
Kara Newman will demo some amazing coffee- and tea-infused
cocktails, Japanese Tea Master Yoshikazu Tafu has journeyed
from Japan to conduct a Japanese tea ceremony each day
as well as a class called Green Tea 101. For the first
time in NYC, The Korean Tea Culture Foundation’s
director and tea master, Yoon Hee Kim, will perform
a special demonstration of the Korean Tea Ceremony each
day of the 2-day Coffee and Tea Festival. Attendance
at the demos is included in the nominal, $20 all-day-pass
admission fee.
To
continue the fun and educational aspect of the event,
Jill M. Sitkin, LMSW, from the Hudson Healing Wisdom
School will be doing tealeaf readings for a small donation
that will go to Cup for Education, the event charity.
Cup for Education helps the poor and rural coffee communities
of Central and Latin America build schools within their
communities and provide the basic tools needed to educate
the future generations of coffee farmers.
The
event is also proud to have made arrangements with filmmaker
Su Friedrich, to show her latest movie, Grounds for
Change, which premiered at Lincoln Center earlier this
year. It will be showed all day, both days of the festival.
Goodie bags will distributed to the first 1000 attendees
each day and include samples from Adagio Teas, Celestial
Seasonings, Chopsticks Magazine, Bali’s Best Candies,
Wholesome Sweetners, World of Grains, and others. Tickets,
