BAY
SHORE, NY — June 16, 2008. Three
student interns from Starfish Junction
Productions will be honored this week
for outstanding leadership in ceremonies
sponsored by two professional business
development groups headquartered on
Long Island, the Direct Marketing Association
of Long Island (www.dmali.org)
and ExecuLeaders (www.execuleaders.org).
A.J.
Sorbera, a student at Bryant University
interning with Starfish Junction for
the summer, will be the recipient of
two outstanding leadership awards, one
from The Direct Marketing Association
of Long Island and the other from ExecuLeaders.
“It was obvious from his first
day with us that A.J. was a super-achiever,”
said Andy Calimano, Owner of Starfish
Junction, an event production company
in Bay Shore, NY. “It was my great
pleasure to nominate A.J. for these
awards. He has a very bright future
ahead of him,” added Calimano.
Mr.
Sorbera will be the 2008 recipient of
the Fred Bruno Scholarship sponsored
by the Direct Marketing Association
of Long Island. The scholarship, created
to honor the memory of a local direct
marketing legend, awards financial assistance
to a college student nominated in recognition
for outstanding achievements and leadership
skills. Mr. Sorbera will also be honored
by ExecuLeaders, an association dedicated
to educating the business community
in methods and techniques of sales,
marketing and networking. Mr. Sorbera
will receive the 2008 College Junior
Leadership Award from ExecuLeaders.
Two
John F. Kennedy High School (Merrick,
NY) seniors, Alexandra Cuttitta and
Rebecca Dreifuss, will be honored with
the High School Junior Leadership Award
from ExecuLeaders. Both were nominated
by Andy Calimano of Starfish Junction.
Ms. Cuttitta and Ms. Dreifuss interned
with Starfish Junction as part of their
high school’s Senior Experience
Program. The Senior Experience Program
places graduating seniors in a corporate
environment for three weeks of business
training and education. “I was
sorry to see Becky and Alex leave us
when the program ended,” said
Mr. Calimano. “We were impressed
by the maturity and accomplishments
of these two young ladies”.
The
Direct Marketing Association of Long
Island award luncheon honoring A.J.
Sorbera will be held on June 19, 2008
at the Holiday Inn in Plainview, NY.
ExecuLeaders will present their awards
to Mr. Sorbera, Ms. Cuttitta, and Ms.
Dreifuss at a ceremony being held on
June 18, 2008 at Carlyle on the Green
