LINDENHURST,
NY. October 18, 2007 —
Starfish Junction Productions, producers of the North Fork
Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival, was honored yesterday
at the Dan’s Papers headquarters in Bridgehampton,
NY. The North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine event, which
was held earlier this year, received top honors as it was
selected as the North Fork Event of the Year in Dan’s
Papers Best of the Best 2007 competition. Thousands
of Dan’s Papers readers took part in the online voting.
The Starfish Junction staff was present to accept the award.
The
North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival, held at
the picturesque Martha Clara Vineyard, “was an amazing
event on so many levels” said producer Andy Calimano.
“The weather was perfect, the food was delicious,
the music was awesome and the beer was varied, plentiful,
and outstanding,” said Calimano. “More
than three months later, I’m amazed at how many people
are still talking about it,” he added.
The
event showcased many local craft brewers including Blue
Point Brewery, Southampton Ales & Lagers, Brooklyn Brewery,
John Harvard’s Brew Haus and the BrickHouse Brewery.
It also introduced Long Island beer enthusiasts to many
other outstanding beers from brewers across the country,
including: Sam Adams (MA), Boulder Beer (CO), Kona
Brewing (HI), SlyFox (PA), Long Trail (VT), Dogfish Head
Brewery (DE), Goose Island Brewing (IL) Oscar Blues (CO),
Smuttynose Brewing Co. (NH), Rogue (OR) and many, many others—nearly
50 brewers in all.
“We
couldn’t have done it without our brewers, sponsors,
volunteers, and supporters,” said Andy Calimano.
The event caterer, Maple Tree BBQ, received rave reviews,
as did the band Energy Express who rocked the crowd all
day long. Other sponsors of note include WBAB, Long
Island Press, Culligan, Long Island Pulse, and the Brewer’s
East End Revival home brew club.
The
North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival also raised
funds for The Peconic Bay Medical Center and the New York
State Brewers Association. The event’s food
drive to benefit Long Island Cares collected nearly 300
pounds of food and over $750 for Long Island families in
need.
The
2008 North Fork Craft Beer, BBQ & Wine Festival will
be held on August 9th at Martha Clara Vineyard in Jamesport,
NY (www.craftbeerfestival.com) and will
very likely sell out in advance of the festival.
Those
who can’t wait until next summer are encouraged to
attend the Spring Craft Beer Festival being held at Nassau
Coliseum on March 29, 2008 (www.craftbeerfestival.com).
